Today, Colorado just went into effect with a shelter-in-place order and my kids' schools start again next Tuesday. They had a two week spring break, but now we're getting back to school and that means setting up a schedule.
I think that having a schedule is incredibly important and when you're working from home. It keeps you focused and aligned to what you are supposed to be doing each hour each day.
I'm working a little less than part-time right now. That's been helpful, especially for my kids' schooling. We will go over it really fast. I have work starting at 9:00 AM but then at 10:00 AM I have working or helping my kids with their schoolwork. At 11:00 AM, we have lunch. Then at noon, I’m going back to work while my son goes into another live Zoom meeting with his teacher.
At 1:00 PM I'm going to go outside with my son and hopefully my daughter. Hopefully their schedules will line up. At 2:00 PM I go back to work and at 3:00 PM, I will work or relax.
Now the schedule of trying to work and be a parent at the same time is incredibly difficult. If I were working full time, I would be waking up at 5 or 6:00 AM working some hours in the morning and then going and helping my kids and then working more hours at night. That’s where the schedule is.
I highly suggest that you come up with your own work from home schedule as it will hopefully iron out kinks throughout your day. Make sure that your schedule is agreed upon with your significant other if you have one, so that you guys know when who's working and when, who's taking care of the kids and what is going on.
